It's the same story told over and over again. I knew sombody who was dying of cancer. The elders found it proper to remove him as a MS not long before he died. They didn't like the fact he went to college. From what I understand he never even got a visit from them, not even a call.

What was the biggest scandal that went down in your cong?

Here's a good one I forgot about.
A young couple is engaged to be married. The girl is a pioneer. Out in the ministry she comes across a man who starts to "study" the Bible. He begins to progress, come to meetings, give comments all kinds of stuff. As you may have guessed it, there was more than just Bible study going on. She kept this up for a while, but eventually was found out. As strange as it seems, she does not get df'ed for this, instead gets reproof (i can't remember if it was public or private, but I really think it was private because of what happened next) Of course, she is not longer engaged at this point. Well, her ex can't get over what happened and starts to spread the word on what she has done, gets called up for slander and what do you know gets de'fd! The story dosn't end here. A few years later I started to hear some rumors about these people again. It turns out that while he was df'ed they both started talking again and fell back in love (of course, wasn't she not suppose to talk to him?). Anyway, he finally gets reinstated and they get married like a month later. Never did hear what happened to that "bible study" -

Here some differant stories I know about:
-Teenage kid comes home to find his Elder dad in bed with a young teenage girl from the hall.
another story:
-Elder leaves wife for another brothers wife. Both are df'ed, but are later reinstated. The other brother never gets over loosing his wife, is eventually is df'ed.
how about another:
-An entire ring of insurance fraud in the area. Supposedly there was a brother who was selling health insurance to alot of other JW's. Then entire business was pratically run by JW's. The company stopped paying bills supposedly under thier coverage. They eventually went bankrupt, sticking many JW's with medial bills they had to pay out of their own pocket.
and another
-Another Elder uses his shady business practices to overcharge for a service, sometimes charging tens of thousands of dollars about what he should. He almost got busted when he ripped off some witnesses, but is still at it.

I want to put out more, but don't want to be revealing to my location and such. Mabye another time. -

So much criticism...but what's the answer?
by thankyou12 inhi guys,.
good discussion here.
thanks.. what is real christianity?

I can see this getting into one huge thread. Let me put in my 2 cents:
If one wishes to still remain a Christian believer, but leave the Watchtower Society the question is often raised "where else will I go?". That question has been printed in the magazines, and is readily accepts by most Witnesses. There IS a problem with this thinking, a big problem. Christian scripture says that the foundation of the faith is Christ, not an organization. Release yourself from thinking that organization has anything to do with "true christianity" instead search out the answers for yourself. It's very hard at first. One of the hardest steps is finally realizing that you might go years or decades without all of your questions answered. Personally i'm at the point in my life where I've taken a step back and am reluctant to commit myself to any particular teaching because I know that more time is needed. We need to realize that all of lifes questions can't be answered in 180 page books. Instead we need to continue to search, continue to struggle, and continue to live. I quote somebody else (but I can't remember who) which said something along the lines of:
"life is a journey, not a destination" -

Old Recording from when I was 14
by Nosferatu inabout a month ago, i found an interesting recording.

I didn't quite follow what your talking about, but I think I get the idea. I'm guessing there is some tension between you and your mother or something of the sort since you don't want her to rub this in your face.
What I see in this is irony. You mother probably is coming from the angle that the stuff you disregarded as a child will come to be more important as an adult. Most people feel a sense of nostaligai when looking at items like those pictures. The irony I see is that the purpose of saving such things is usually seen as a way of preserving "happy" memories we want to revisit, where as your tape reveals a condition that is unpleasent and undesireable from that point in your life. In essence the tape reveals more than the picutres and is more important. Your tape wins over moms pictures because they reveal more. (mabye?).
On the other hand, mabye everything I just said is a big pile of bs. I'm trying to be philosophical or something. -

Yesterday I ran across this quote. I found it quite interesting.
"There are no whole truths; all truths are half- truths. It is trying to treat them as whole truths that plays the devil."
